Us Realvolvers work hard and play hard.
This week, the team has allowed me to take a few days off. In Colorado, there are 53 14,000 ft. peaks (the largest concentration in the country—we’re very lucky to live and work here).
Yesterday, I bagged my first 14er. It was brutal. But with all things pain related, there are lessons that relate to life and our work. Here’s are 5 quick lessons for a better real estate business (and better life):
1. Preparation Is Key
All the little steps you take daily add up to big wins down the road. In the beginning of any journey, you often can’t see the summit/destination…or what you thought was your destination was actually false. (Note: I should have listened to Sophie and started with an easier mountain).
2. Progress is progress… no matter how slow.
Don’t compare yourself to others (or other real estate agents). Normally, it takes 5 to 6 hours to get up and down the mountain. It took me 8…but I felt just as accomplished. Slow and steady wins (check out my previous post on Achieving Long Term Success by Avoiding Instant Gratification).
3. Pauses are important. Vacations are crucial.
Taking time off not only helps you stay healthy, but it also makes you better at your work. It clears your head, helps you focus, and snaps you out of your tendencies to over-focus on your business.
4. Pain is worth it…it’s what makes us who we are.
Don’t stand still. Never assume you can stop growing. As uncomfortable as it can be at times to push forward and grow as individuals, the alternative is worse. Going backwards/downhill sucks. The obstacle is the way.
5. The higher you get, the harder it gets.
The further and BIGGER your real estate business grows, the more complicated it becomes. Life gets harder. Never quit. One step at a time.
We believe a Better Business = Better Life.
