Whether you opt for something practical, like sunscreen, or a purely aesthetic token of appreciation, like a gorgeous potted plant, don’t let summer pass you by without connecting with your leads and past clients!
What is a “pop-by?”
“Pop-bys” is industry-speak for small gifts that real estate agents drop off to past clients and current leads for the purposes of staying top-of-mind, asking for referrals, and earning repeat business. These gifts are typically items that are cost-effective to purchase in bulk so they can be given out to a large number of people.
The best pop-bys are useful, of good quality, and relevant to the recipients. You might choose to segment your audience to make your pop-by gifts more meaningful—dog owners, parents of young children, seniors, etc.
And yes, most pop-bys include a punny tagline that makes some sort of connection between the gift and your real estate business. The silly pun isn’t a requirement, though. In fact, the way you package your gift and word your message can be a great way to reinforce your brand.

6 Summer Pop-By Ideas for Real Estate Agents
1) Sunscreen: “Don’t let your friends get burned in this market…”
Sunscreen is an essential that will definitely be appreciated and used! These tags by BigTopCreations on Etsy read: “Don’t let your friends get burned in this market. Refer them to me and I will make sure they get the protection they need.”
2) Potted plant: “Here’s to putting down roots.”
This pop-by could really work any time of year, but since it’s summertime, channel those vacation vibes with a tropical plant, brightly colored flowers, or a heat-resistant succulent. I love this gift tag by Awkward Agent (Etsy), which one commenter described as having “more of a cool factor” than the typical card. On the front, in a retro typeface on a bold red background, it reads: “Here’s to putting down roots.” On the reverse: “A little something to honor our budding relationship. Sorry/not sorry for the plant pun.”
3) Popsicles + holder: “Chill this summer & let me handle your real estate needs!”
Grab a box of those classic freeze pops—the ones that don’t have to be frozen until you’re ready—and package them with one of these DIY gift tags from StellinaDreams (Etsy) and a couple of these handy ice pop holders (which you could customize with a tagline and your logo). It’s a great gift for families with kids, so be sure to include enough for each child.
4) Cactus-Shaped Popsicle Mold: “Stick with me!”
Here’s another take on the popsicle idea, shared by @popbyco on Instagram. The gift includes a cactus-shaped popsicle mold, a recipe for a green smoothie popsicle, and a note that reads, “Stick with me! I’m here to assist you and your referrals, whether the market is hot or prickly!”
5) Bulls-Eye Barbecue Sauce – “When it comes to my favorite folks, you hit the ‘Bulls Eye!’”
This idea from broker associate/realtor Jackie Egan is perfect for 4th of July cookouts. And if you can’t find Bull’s-Eye-brand barbecue sauce, you could gift bottles of ketchup instead, with the message: “Just popping by to ‘ketchup!’”
